Discovering Opportunity

It is apparent and imperative that schools maintain and improve existing programs and intiatives focused on providing students the tools for success in a digital world.  In CISD with our technology infused focus on instruction, we are getting there.  But no matter where you are or how much you are doing....if you don't build those critical partnerships through your community, area universities, intraschool, or experiential types, you're not going to move forward fast enough.  You must get the word out about all the miraculous things going on in your schools.  I found a paperless school newsletter to share all the great things going on in our school and others.  What do you find is a great way to share?  What partnerships are you focusing on building with your campus this year?

  1. I can't agree with you move when you talk about "...you're not going to move forward fast enough" since we have molded education and digital technology together, I feel like if you are not one step ahead you will end up being 20 miles behind. How are we as educators suppose to know where to find the tools to stay ahead?! PLN!!! I think when we discuss PLNs it is important to explain that it all doesn't have to be digitally, the most valuable part of a teachers PLN is their teammates.

P.S. I love how you ask questions at the end of your posts to ignite conversations.

  2. Hi Ms. Lancarte,
I do believe that if we do not take charge of our digital presence, someone else will. We live in a digital society that seeks information, help, services and more online. Our presence in the digital society is just as important as our presence in our face to face society. Our digital presence can inform people of what we're doing in education, what is available to them through our schools, how we are impacting our community, etc.

I enjoy using Smore digital newsletters! www.smore.com They are easy to use, pretty, and the link automatically updates once its embedded in your site. I plan on creating one for the library to share with the teachers, community, and students this year.
